THOR Receives $15,000 Grant from the REI Cooperative Action Fund!

Trails Have Our Respect (THOR) Awarded $15,000 Grant from the REI Cooperative Action Fund to Support Accessible Outdoor Experiences

OMAHA, NE — Trails Have Our Respect (THOR) is proud to announce that the REI Cooperative Action Fund has awarded a $15,000 grant in support of THOR’s mission to expand access to safe, sustainable, and inclusive natural-surface trails throughout the region. This award marks year three of a four-year grant commitment—an ongoing investment that underscores the Fund’s long-term confidence in and support of THOR’s work. While the $15,000 grant is a compelling story on its own, the sustained, multi-year backing from the Action Fund is especially meaningful as it helps ensure stability and momentum for trail development and community programs.

The REI Cooperative Action Fund is a community-driven 501(c)(3) public charity created in 2021 by REI Co-op to advance a more equitable and inclusive outdoors. The Fund brings together the collective strength of millions of REI members, thousands of employees, and hundreds of nonprofit partners committed to improving the well-being of all people through time spent outside. With ongoing support from REI Co-op, 100% of public donations go directly to organizations leading this work in communities across the country.

“We are deeply grateful for this investment from the REI Cooperative Action Fund,” said [Insert THOR representative name/title]. “This grant strengthens our ability to build and maintain high-quality trails, expand stewardship programs, and ensure that outdoor spaces remain accessible and welcoming for everyone.”

The funding will support upcoming trail projects, community engagement initiatives, and THOR’s continued work with land managers and volunteers across Nebraska and western Iowa to develop resilient, sustainable trail systems.

The REI Cooperative Action Fund prioritizes organizations dedicated to equity, access, healing, and belonging in the outdoors—values that align strongly with THOR’s commitment to creating trails that connect people, parks, and community.
