#WomensMTBday

MAY 4th

Join us in celebrating International Women’s Mountain Biking Day at Platte River State Park! We encourage you to ride your bike joyfully with friends, celebrate each other, and share your stories. Women’s Mountain Bike Day is not intended to be women-only; it's a women-forward, inclusive, and welcoming celebration for all riders. We invite everyone to join in on the celebration!

Theme: How do you Earn Your Turns?

“Earning your turns” was first coined by backcountry skiers in the 1970s. The idea spoke metaphorically of getting out of life what you put into it and more directly to the joy derived from the extreme exertion required to drag oneself and one's skis to the top of a mountain in order to ski down untamed, backcountry powder. Somewhere along the lines, this made its way into mountain biking vernacular, remaining true to the metaphor, but more directly meaning a mountain biker should earn their downhill by using human-powered means to climb up or earn their ride by committing to the activity their trails, or their local trails organization.

Tell us how how you “Earn Your Turns” by using #WomensMTBDay on social media!

This event kicks off at noon with lunch & socializing. We will share stories from our community champions, then head out on the trail for group rides starting at 1:00 pm. This will be a no-drop ride to encourage building riding confidence and community. We may break into small groups.
