TAP Trail Education Day at Tranquility Park

  • Tranquility Park North - Kelly Softball Complex parking lot 12302 Fort Street Omaha, Nebraska, 68164 United States (map)

We're partnering with the trail-running organization GOATZ to provide this intro to the corridor-clearing event.

The northern part of Tranquility Park is still open to the public, and this is an opportunity to learn how you can get involved in caring for the trails in our area. We'll get some work done, which includes mowing, trimming, and all the tasks that clearing trail corridors entail. If you're interested in learning about what our trails need from Volunteers like yourself, we encourage you to join us.

The Trail Adoption Program (TAP) engages volunteers and local organizations as trail stewards. By adopting community trails, participants help maintain safe, enjoyable, and sustainable spaces for all.

TAP Education & Training
Volunteers will learn how to log hours, understand TAP expectations, and work effectively in teams — building connection and ownership of the trail.

No experience necessary. THOR will provide guidance and education throughout the morning, including tool safety, basic maintenance techniques, and what to look for when caring for your adopted section. You’ll be supported every step of the way.

What to bring:
• Work gloves
• Closed-toe shoes
• Water
• Loppers or hand saws (if you have them)
• Bug spray

We’ll begin at 9:00 AM with a brief safety overview and plan for the day, then break into small teams to get started. Afterward, feel free to stay, ride, and connect with fellow trail supporters. We'll meet in the Kelly Softball Complex parking lot.

Taking ownership of our trails keeps them strong. We hope you’ll join us.
